I am dedicated to improving the lives of my patients and their families. With every orthopedic consult comes the opportunity to restore the function and activity of my patients. I believe excellent care starts with a clear understanding of the diagnosis and thorough understanding of the treatment options. I practice evidence based Orthopaedic medicine, so I’m always looking to improve my practice and adopt new technologies when research studies show clear benefits. I enjoy working with patients to find the best solution for their problem, starting with non-invasive methods and reserving surgery only for problems best treated surgically. The best days of my week are when I see patients for long term follow-up visits after surgery which has changed their lives.
I also enjoy teaching surgery, so I’m fortunate to have the opportunity to train resident Orthopaedic doctors from UCSF in the operating room at the VA Medical Center in San Francisco.
Dr. Detch is married and has three young boys. He enjoys archery, hiking, music and exercise.
